Incredible Book

I can't wait to know what happens next! Lali of the Lill kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I couldn't put it down! The book was fascinating! It was like watching a movie in my head! Lali of the Lill was brilliantly written and I can't wait for the next book! I would definitely recommend this book to everyone I meet!

This book was sent to me in Eformat by the author for review, but that in no way affects my my thoughts on this book. What you read below is my honest review.

In this novel we follow our main character Lali while she’s trying to find out whom or what she is. Like she doesn't have enough to deal with she is being randomly attacked by mysterious creatures. When she finally meets Theon a boy that has been helping her survive the spontaneous attacks she has a tough decision to make does she leave with the stranger that promises her to tell her who she is and where she comes from, or stay in her current life with her mother and the young boy she has promised to marry Krei.

When I began to read this book I thought to myself this might not be the book for me the writing style felt a little rough drafty and I also felt that the beginning was a little slow, but as I continued to read the book actually picked up and I really enjoyed it. Adi Mandal has written such a unique story and the main character kicks butt she doesn't take crap from anyone.

This book is a fun, fast read that I really enjoyed! Before I forget to mention I really, really loved the mother and daughter relationship in this book. Lali wouldn't make any decision without thinking how it would affect her mother. This is something that you don't see in young adult novels often. Overall if you're looking for a fast, fun, unique read I definitely recommend this book.

Very original topic and mysterious background.

Oh gosh this book was beyond my expectations. I really wish Adi Mandal the best, because I think this book is the next big thing. I got a problem usually with finding original stories, where you really don't expect what's coming next. I couldn't guess almost all the time. I did had a few problems with the dialogue. It was a little bit corny, at least for me. The funny thing is, that makes it a easy and fast read that I could recommend to anyone. ANYONE. The scenes where the "attacks" happened, they were unpredictable. and enjoyable. About the main character, I LOVE HER SO MUCH. She puts everything and everyone first. Like her adoptive mother Stella. The relationship I liked the most was between mother and daughter. Lali always thinks about her mom first, before she acts. Which I think is a admirable characteristic. I just hate that sometimes the main characters acts without thinking about the consequences to their family. I really like strong female characters, Lali is one of them. Theon was a sweetheart (even though he acts really weird but you'll find out why). In conclusion, this is a very fast read that any person would enjoy. I cant wait for the next book!

A wonderful story, well written, imaginative and full of surprises. I loved it!

I love Fantasy books; everybody who follows my reviews knows that. That’s why when I saw The Drakon’s cover and read its description I had to read it right away. From the prologue and until the very last sentence of the book, the author keeps the suspense and leaves you wonder what will happen and how the problems (that aren’t few) will solve.

If you are a prologue-skipper, I recommend to read it here, it will really add a very important piece of the story, that otherwise you won’t even imagine it could be possible through the book.

As for the characters, they are really well developed, even the secondary ones like Hana, Rex’s friends and John’s father (although I think he will not be just a secondary character for much longer in the next book). I loved how Rose’s teenage language felt natural, even when she was being childish and laughing hysterically, it was nice and fun to read her point of view.

As I said the suspense was latent until the very last sentence and you it just makes it impossible to try and guess what will happen in the next book.

Honestly, a wonderful story, well written, imaginative and full of surprises. I loved it!

You've definitely never read anything like this before. Narrator Rose Sorenson is unflinching and wickedly irreverent; her perspective is as refreshing as it is readable... Fantasy in general, and paranormal romance in particular, has long stood on the legs of black-and-white morality. With works like A Song of Ice and Fire, this began to change. The Drakon is of the new ilk: Coyle's characters follow their own agendas to the ends of the earth; there is no "Mr. Evil" character to drive the plot - simply people, living life, slogging through the mud of existence. In addition to this most-welcome take on modern fantasy parameters, The Drakon weaves urbanity into its story with considerable skill. Rose's worlds - that of the human girl, and the dragon consort - are balanced equally, and Rose struggles with both throughout the novel. A lively, surprising read. Will leave fans desperate for more.

Can't wait to read Book 2!

Wow! What a unique point of view The Drakon offers. Poignant and familiar, yet other-worldly, this story is NOT another Twilight. The parallels of high school and Roses 'other' life are intriguing and relatable.
Imaginary worlds often fall flat, but Coyle has a knack for inviting readers into another realm full of enchanting settings they won't want to leave.
I really think this is a great book as a YA novel, but as an adult, I have no problem saying I loved it and couldn't put it down.

I would recommend The Drakon to anyone who appreciates beautiful prose and creative characters that bring nostolgia to older readers and satisfaction you the younger ones.

Love and Angels what more could you want?

This was a fun read. Such a sweet love story. This book pretty much found me when I needed it most. I'd been given some bad news about my health and was feeling blue. This book helped lift my spirits and kept me smiling while reading it. Having said that, I would recommend this book to friends and family. Would make a great movie too. Can't wait for the next book in this series.

'Shine' simply shines!

Joann Buchanan did a wonderful job writing this book. It is well written kind of poetic if you will. I really like the story about a girl (Elizabeth) who moves to a small town to get away from the city and her ex fiancé who broke her heart. Moving on with her life by doing what loves to do best her photography work. She didn't think she would fall in love again until one day she sees something or someone amazing; she sees Samuel descend from the clouds. She could not believe what her eyes were seeing, an angel? After the two fall in love her life becomes complicated and she has to choose. Will she risk it all for her angel?
What I really loved about the story was that the angel does not have to fall from grace to be with a human girl whom he falls in love with. That was a big plus for me. Overall it was a very nice story Joann Buchanan has a way with words that makes the reader fall in love with the characters in her book. I am looking forward to read the next book in the series.

Beautiful!

Shine does just that, shine. This is the beginning of a beautiful love story between a sweet, gorgeous angel and a human that has a good heart above all else. An emotional page turner, I couldn’t put this book down. Not only was the growing love between Samuel and Elizabeth so charming and genuine, there was a twist that will surprise you and make you want more. I know I do!
The story is about Good vs Evil, unconventional and almost forbidden love, and how a mere human tries to find her place in the world she has now been shown. I loved every minute and can’t wait to see what happens next! Five stars!

Carolyn Wells (June 18, 1862 – March 26, 1942) was an American author and poet. Born in Rahway, New Jersey,[1] she was the daughter of William E. and Anna Wells. this isn't the best of Carolyn Wells' Patty Fairfield books, but it's the first, and it sets the scene for the rest of the series very enjoyably. Fourteen-year-old Patty Fairfield's father sends her to visit four different aunts in order to learn how their families live, and Patty learns about proportion, and what is needed for a comfortable home. She also goes to quite a few parties, and wears some nifty outfits--if you can ignore the fact that this was first published in 1901, smack in the middle of one of the more unattractive periods in the history of costume.

I read the Patty Fairfield books when I was about 9 or 10, and have enjoyed revisiting them as an adult. Like Downtown Abbey, they give you glimpses of a world very different from the one we live in today. While Patty and her family are not upper class, they are upper middle class, and I remember being fascinated with their lifestyle of parties, long visits to friend and family, entertaining, charity functions, etc. It's interesting now to place all that in historical context (something I didn't do as a child) and to contrast her expectations and her level of sophistication with that of young women her age in the 21st century.

They're not great literature by any means, but they are fun and bring back memories of my own childhood, when I enjoyed reading the books my mother had read when she was growing up.

i think this is the first of the "Patty" series. after reading it i immediately started the second, "Patty at home". so i obviously enjoyed it.... even though its meant for young adults or pre-teens:)

An Exhilarating Fantasy Novel!

"Enyo's Warrior" doesn't just pick up where "Theia's Moons" left off. It takes it to a whole new, exciting level! Plot twists abound in this story. Allies are enemies. Enemies are allies. Malkia is left in doubt, not knowing who to trust. Her gifts are being exploited. She is being used as a weapon against a race of creatures she knows very little about.

Malkia is a very interesting character. Niki Livingston does an admirable of job building upon the character she developed in "Theia's Moons." She is a nuanced character, uncertain as to where her loyalties lie. She often questions the manner in which the war is being waged against the Artemisians, knowing full well that she and her young friend Misty are being exploited as weapons of war. Yet, she is willing to believe the tale being told to her about the Artemisians and willing to annihilate an entire race of creatures for the sake of freeing Enyo and gaining her freedom. Of course, nothing is at it seems in this story.

Niki Livingston has done a tremendous job of building upon the foundation she put down in "Theia's Moons." "Enyo's Warrior" is a rich, powerful and vibrant story. I highly recommend it!

This is the continuation of the Theia's Moons series and does an excellent job of picking up where the last book left off and continuing the story.

We see Malkia as she struggles against a great number of obstacles as she becomes Enyo's Warrior. She is conflicted and doesn't want to allow things to take her too far from what she was before. This is especially apparent when she talks with Asha, who tells her she cannot give a good answer to how to deal with their enemies because her entire belief structure is colored by prejudice.

She becomes a part of something bigger than herself and is thrust into the middle of this war, and as the book progresses her power continues to grow and she is forced to make more and more difficult decisions. The novel ends on a major cliffhanger, setting us up for the next book in the series, and I can't wait to see what happens next.

Wow! I've read one and two! Looking forward when I can get #3! This is one of those books that you know from the beginning!! Movie needs to be made from these books! Such great writing, you know how to make us not want to put them down, great story lines, and great imagination went into this, five ⭐ doesn't give this one justice, if you love Witch,dragons, and demons of all kinds, then this book IS definitely a must read for anyone,, love how it all seems one way but so many twists and turns it's exciting to what really happens to all the charactures, again, This needs to be turned into a movie, I'd be the first in line,,

About the Author
R.S. Fleming was born in Ottawa, Ontario, and has lived in Pierrefonds, Quebec; Mississauga, Ontario; Winnipeg, Manitoba; and Prince Edward County, Ontario. He served for twenty-five years in the RCAF as an aviation technician and instrument electrician and was awarded a Canadian Forces’ Decoration and clasp as well as the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal for meritorious service. Fleming is now a full-time author.

Secret Service, Downton Abbey, Steampunk mashup!

This book is meant for young teens. The heroine gets caught up in an operation for the British Secret Service in China during the Opium War. I read it to my ten year old, and he enjoyed the story. What impressed me most was the historical detail and accuracy. The notes at the end are a bit of fun, in that they point out the many characters in the book that were real people, playing anything from a bit part to a more major role. There was also a website that had an impressive array of articles by the author on subjects varying from cosmetics and firearms of the era to steampunk. We loved the whole book experience!

An meticulously researched tale of adventure

Always a sucker for a strong, active heroine, I was excited to discover Fleming's debut featuring the multi-talented Lady Kate. At the tender age of 15, she is not only a natural and athletic warrior, but also a mechanical genius. The author's obvious attention to historical accuracy made the book chock full of authentic details. I particularly enjoyed the details of her voyage from England to China by way of an overland camel trip to Suez. Part of the reason I love reading historicals is to go on trips to foreign lands that are impossible to do in real life, and Kate's journey definitely took me on a path I had never traveled in fiction. This is evidently the first in a series, and I plan to read the next installment.

He converses with Patou, the farmyard dog, about the Blackbird's cynicism and biting wit; while Chantecler considers it of little importance, Patou warns that Blackbird's flippant attitude is a dangerous moral influence because it weakens sincere belief in the potential of heroism. Suddenly, a female golden pheasant (a female who nevertheless has the colorful plumage of a male) arrives in the barnyard, fleeing from a hunter. Chantecler helps hide her in Patou's doghouse. Act II[edit] At night, the nighttime birds of prey, along with the cat and the Blackbird, plot to kill Chantecler because his crowing interrupts their nefarious plans. They devise a plot to lure Chantecler to the weekly soirée held by the fashionable Guinea Hen, where they will also invite a famous game cock to assassinate Chantecler. The pheasant overhears, but the Blackbird persuades her not to tell Chantecler of the plot. When Chantecler appears to crow for the dawn, the pheasant persuades him to attend the soirée, and also to confess his secret belief that his crowing makes the sun rise. The Blackbird, hiding in a flower pot, eavesdrops through the hole in the pot's bottom, but because his position doesn't allow him to see the sunrise, he assumes Chantecler's confession is only a ruse to seduce the pheasant. After the pheasant leaves, Blackbird tells Chantecler that the game cock will attend Guinea Hen's soirée, and Chantecler insists on attending and confronting him. Act III[edit] At the soirée, a series of increasingly fancy-bred roosters are introduced before Chantecler arrives; disgusted by the artificiality of the other birds' plumage, he insists on being introduced simply as "the cock". When the fighting cock appears, he and Chantecler fight, with all the birds except the pheasant and Patou cheering for the fighting cock. Chantecler is badly beaten and nearly killed, but at the last moment, a hawk flies overhead and he and the other birds cower in fear. Chantecler bravely shields the others with his body, and scares the hawk away. When the hawk leaves, the game cock makes a last lunge at Chantecler, but wounds himself instead and is carried away. Chantecler bitterly denounces the Blackbird's soulless cynicism and the crowd's envious rooting for his enemy, and departs for the forest with the pheasant.

A great forgotten work

Chantecler is Edmond Rostand's hymn to traditional values and his cry against what he saw as the bankrupt decay of modernity. While his unthinking reverence to tradition is certainly misplaced, one can certainly sympathize with his horror at the worst aspects of the encroaching cultural bankruptcy of the anti-enlightment (in the play Rostand mentions Kant by name).

One can forgive Rostand for failing to identify this as a false alternative, due to the sheer artistry of his work. Told in the form of a fairy-tale, Chantecler is the story of a rooster on a farm struggling to cling to his deeply-held ideals of heroism and romantic love in the face of gossiping superficial society hens, frivolously fashionable yet brutal game cocks, a cynical blackbird, and other colorful antagonists. Full of drama, humor, and romance, not to mention Rostand's trademark intelligent wit, all dramatizing a serious intellectual theme, this play truly has it all.

Chantecler ranks among the greatest dramas in all of world literature, along with Rostand's other masterpiece, Cyrano de Bergerac, whose spirit Chantecler shares. It is a shame that Chantecler is not as well-known, nor as widely available to a mass market, at least not in the English-speaking world. Gertrude Hall's brilliant English translation fully captures its beauty and majesty.

I have never been more upset with a purchase on amazon.com than this one. I have been looking forward to reading this play for a long time, but upon opening the package, i was left dumbfounded when I realized what a pitifully cheap edition this was. The cover is distasteful, pixelated, and poorly printed- although this is hardly the worst part. No, by far the WORST and most MISLEADING part is the fact that it is a four act play, yet this addition fails to print the second act! When I first opened the book, I thought it was merely a typo, but in the index, the third act is mentioned twice, yet the second was no mentioned at all. I looked through the pages and compared them and realized the book publishers, Mcallister Editions, had literally published the SAME text Two times. Of course, why read a book when the second act is missing? I immediately slammed by book shut, opened up my laptop, and wrote this review in hopes of saving fellow Theater Aficionados from all the grief I have just suffered.

It follows a number of previous Guild publications, including Healdsburg Alive!, A Day in the Life of Healdsburg, Present at the Creation, Healdsburg Haiku, and several poetry chapbooks. The contents of this new book are the results of an open call the Guild issued last year. The book features forty writers and poets and their fifty-two poems and seventeen short stories. It is organized into three sections. The first section, Healdsburg, has poems and short stories set in Healdsburg and its environs. The second section, and Beyond!, has poems and stories set, as the title implies, beyond Healdsburg’s environs, although many of the pieces could best be categorized as place neutral or anywhere place. However, readers will visit several other states in the United States, and countries in Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. The third section, Literary Illuminations, features the fifteen winning entries in a quarterly contest the Guild conducted for its members from the first quarter of 2013 through the first quarter of 2015.

An Epic Family Saga of Sicilians in America

Every family has ghosts and Sicilian families more than most. Over the course of many generations there are inevitable betrayals yet, no betrayal is more profound to a 9-year old boy than the death of his mother and his abandonment by his father as he is shipped to America alone, seemingly, to appease his father's new wife. Each decision Santo makes in his life is colored and shaped by this abandonment and he lives his life largely alone, untrusting and wary of women. Even though family history begins to emerge over the generations, Santo is frozen in time judging new facts from the perspective of a traumatized 9 year old. This is a sprawling saga over many generations where the characters are well delineated and the conflicts real. You feel like you're sitting around the kitchen table hearing these stories first hand while grandpa knocks back another glass of grappa. The scenes of olive groves and ocean voyages are beautifully painted and you will find this journey through time compelling and moving. In the end, Santo comes to terms with the past that adds a dramatic twist. The characters are richly painted and come to life. By the end of the book, the reader will feel like part of the family.

From Sicily with Love

A very well written book about the love of family! The story centers around the youngest child of the Marogani family, Santo. His life in Sicily as a young boy and then his journey to America are beautifully described with a tenderness and mastery of the human spirit. Although Santo leaves Sicily behind, his memories and traditions of his life there never leave him. Building a life in America and forming his own family with his lovely wife Caterina, Santo's role of husband and father stands out and resembles the love his father had for him. The historical backdrop is clearly defined and enhances the years of Santo's life in Sicily, New York City and Pittsburgh. A riveting story of a wonderful immigrant and the good life he found without losing the thought of where he came from. Every reader will enjoy this book.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Unlike most novels that deal with the immigrant experience, Shana's story was about a wealthy Sicilian family, a family with ties to the Cosa Nostra, a family that sent five of its children to America. I was pleased to see that she actually had an Italian grandfather, and I assume that some of the incidents here are factual, perhaps passed down as part of her family history. Shana has carefully researched her novel in order to make it as historically accurate as possible during the 50+ years it covers. Secrets and lies, love and betrayal, tragedy and success....all of these can be found in this very commendable first effort.
