Shanntal is like any other teenager, except for the mysterious nightmares that seem to foretell a shadowy future. One night while playing with an Ouija board during a sleepover, Shanntal and her friend unwittingly summon Daray, a vampire who says they will soon be together. Visibly shaken, Shanntal has no idea that the cryptic message seemingly intended for her is just the beginning.

When Shanntal returns home the next day, she discovers her family has been killed by mysterious bites. After moving in with her aunt and uncle, Shanntal eventually meets Jayce, an immoral who unveils a new realm and Shanntal's destiny. As she falls in love and befriends fairies, shape shifters, and others, she is hunted by an evil being as her past rises up and triggers her memory, reminding her that she is the one who can walk in both worlds. While Shanntal becomes torn between her love for Jayce and her loyalty to Daray, the two worlds hang on the precipice of change. Only one is the key to ensuring peace-if she is strong enough to survive.

Escaped the Night is a tale of good versus evil as a teenager comes of age, learns her destiny, and battles to keep harmony in a paranormal world where only true love endures.

Review
1.I wasvery impressed with how simply and effortlessly Jennifer Blyth can tell thisaddicting, multi-layered story with well-developed world building and greatcharacters and still manage to make vamps/demons/monsters/fairies, etc fresh! Aless talented author would probably over-write or over-dramatize to the pointof being totally unbelievable. But even with the fantastical storyline we areall in, hooked on every scene, as the world building always follows its ruleswhich is so important in books like this. At first it took me some time toacclimate and get the feel of the characters and their backstory... was confusedon a few things, but stuck with it and it all became clear. A very well writtenand intoxicating read all through to the end. Can't wait to read more fromJennifer Blyth in the future! Recommend for fans of YA and NA paranormalromance. 1.     I like how even though this novels isabout vampires, which is a topic that seems to have been covered from almostevery conceivable angle, the story never becomes predictable  or feels cliché, and there are some serious plot twists I didn't see coming...The characters were so well developed and fleshed out I feel like I knew thempersonally, and for such a 'paranormal' themed book, it felt strangelybelievable... like more 'real' than most fantasy/paranormals, if this makessense. The pacing was good, but there were some editing errors (more towardsthe beginning than later on...)An emotionally seductive and satisfying 'escape'that I highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a great paranormal novelwith a unique take on the vampire myth. Jennifer Blyth did a terrific jobmaking this story feel like something we haven't read a million times, which ispretty impressive. Ready for more from this author! Recommend. 1."Escapedthe Night" by Jennifer Blyth was one of the most unexpectedly awesome booksI've read in a while. To be totally honest, at first I wasn't sure I'd like itbecause I had a hard time figuring out what it was about from the description, and I've been a bit burned out on paranormal lately (*they are all starting tofeel the same*). But I was really impressed with the opening sample, andthought I'd take a chance. Well, I'm so glad I did! Much to my surprise it was so unique and original, it really wasunlike anything I'd read, and in a good way!! I loved the fresh approach onvampire lore, and there were so many amazing characters ((Shanntal, Ginata (!),Jayce, Daray and all the others are great)) It had so many interesting plottwists and once I got into the book it was impossible to put down, and once Ifinished I immediately looked for the next one, hoping the storylinecontinued!  "Escaped the Night" is awonderful book for reading on those cold winter nights--A fantastical, yetbelievable storyline that leaves you wanting more. Probably best suited for YA/NA, but can see older readers enjoying it as well. (4 stars) Layla Messing- Goodreads; Shelfari; Barnes& Noble; Indie Book Reviewers

1."Escapedthe Night" by Jennifer Blyth was such a great find! I'm so happy I discoveredthis author, and I love how long of an ebook it is!! I like that I can reallylose myself in the story and with the fascinating characters. Blyth's writingis very descriptive and I felt like I was really inside this unique world theauthor created. I liked that it made me think outside the box and wasn't justanother formulaic vampire story. This was really original, I thought, but atthe same time comfortingly familiar. My only beef was that it felt like it tooktoo long to get going (even though there is good, crazy action at thebeginning), for there to be the tension needed to really hook us in to havingto keep reading. At times I thought some of the narrative went on a bit toolong (too much 'telling') and there were some minor editing things I noticed. But despite that I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to read the nextbook from Jennifer Blyth soon. Definitely recommend for fans of YA paranormal& fantasy romance. (4 stars) BrendaMaxwell- Goodreads; Shelfari; Barnes & Noble; Indie Book Reviewers

1."Escapedthe Night" by Jennifer Blyth is a really good read with an interesting conceptand some of the most genuine 'YA" narrative and prose I've come across in along while..... And just when I thought I was done with vampires forever and hadread every possible angle they could take. Make no mistake, there are plenty ofsubplots happening here, At times I almost felt like it was too much, althoughthe author describes it very well, and I know it's instrumental to the overallstoryline and with what is happening with the main characters. It's justsometimes seemed like overkill when I would've preferred to maybe see a deeperemotional relationship build between the characters instead. This is a great combinationof a character driven literary novel as well as an action-packed one, and thereis great energy that whisks us along. The thing that struck me the most wasjust how genuine and authentic it all came across... like how teens and creatureswould really talk and act.... In a frighteningly good way. Curious to see ifthere will be more books like this and where they will go. The ending seems toleave room open for more, but I don't really see any mention. A Love Triangle and a Battle for Peace
By Tiffany
Shanntal has had a rough month, presumably due to the disturbing nightmares she has almost every night. As thus, it's only fitting that the story begins with a nightmare where Shanntal is being stalked by a dark figure with red eyes and bloody hands. Shanntal has dreadful nightmares like this almost every night. She wants to put those nightmares behind her and have fun. What better way to do so than by spending the night at her best friend Ginata's house?

Unfortunately, hanging out with Ginata only makes Shanntal's month that much more difficult. Ginata's interest in witchcraft and Ouija boards grabs the attention of a powerful vampire named Daray who claims he's been searching for Shanntal. One thing leads to another until Shanntal's home becomes nothing more than a mortuary. In the span of one night, Shanntal loses both her family and Ginata's family.

The police have no leads on the murderer(s). Reporters insist that Shanntal is somehow behind the deaths. The only thing Shanntal knows is that the bodies were drained of all liquids and had various bite marks.

With very few reasons to remain in Greyton, Shanntal decides to move to Blackwood with Stephanie, her aunt, and Danier, her uncle. That's how she meets Jayce, an extremely good looking guy with a dangerous vibe who quickly befriends and woos her, and all of his friends. Instead of trying to hide their oddities and powers, they make them clear from the get-go.

However, that powerful vampire Ginata and Shanntal talked to with the Ouija board isn't out of the picture yet. It turns out Shanntal and Daray had a past together. Soon Shanntal finds herself torn between Jayce and Daray. Who should she choose? To make matters worse, there are rumors about a war brewing amongst the immortals. The outcome will be up to Shanntal, since they believe she is the key to keeping peace as the savior. Can Shanntal succed?

The first one hundred pages were pretty rough. I spotted a couple of typos and awkwardly phrased sentences. Even though there were sections dedicated to Shanntal's background and family life, I couldn't quite grasp her special attributes or her seemingly nonchalant reactions to never aging and missing certain memories. At some points, Shanntal felt like a Mary Sue, mainly because almost everyone was willing to protect and work for Shanntal at a moment's notice due to her being special and unique. I had a hard time understanding why Jayce fell for her so very fast.

However, the story picks up when Shanntal and Jayce get into an argument and Shanntal decides to gather her own small group of friends to find things out herself. When she can't rely on Jayce, Daray, or her shapeshifter friend, the reader really gets a fulfilling and interesting peak into what makes Shanntal unique and special. After adventuring on her own, Shanntal's characterization rounds out and Escaped the Night becomes a read worth finishing.

I'd say that this book appeals most to paranormal romance fans and those who loved Twilight. The start is rocky, but the book is an enjoyable read overall, and the overarching message that love and friendship conquers all is sweet and charming.

Wonderful debut novel
By Kristina's Books & More
Escaped the Night is a breathtaking paranormal romance that has the most amazing line up of paranormal creatures I've ever seen in one novel! It has vampires, werewolves, faeries, shape-shifters, unicorns, immortals, and more! The characters are all great as well! There are ones you hate, ones you love, and ones that make you laugh. Shanntal is the main character and despite having been through and sacrificed a lot, she stays strong through the entire novel! She is very brave, stubborn, protective of those she loves, and has a good heart! All the qualities that make up a great character! Jayce is every girl's fantasy. Handsome, tattoo, charming, romantic, and protective. He introduces Shanntal to the incredible world of the daywalkers VS the nightwalkers, along with all of the other creatures. All of the minor characters are just as entertaining, and really get you rooting for them throughout the novel.

The story is unique! It has many different factors that come together and make a really great book! It has the perfect mix of action and romance. The story had me smiling, laughing, and crying. At the end I had a huge smile on my face and was left feeling completely satisfied. Everything was wrapped up nicely with a big bow on top! (Or a pretty cover!) I really liked that the cover had some hidden significance that was hidden in the story!

The writing is fresh, gruesome at times, beautiful in others. The descriptions were a big part of the story and they do not disappoint! I love how Jennifer captures all the different scenes perfectly. The pacing was perfect for the story, starting off slow and ending with a bang! Just when you think you've figured out what has happened, it changes. A hint of suspense was always present.

Escaped the Night is a wonderful paranormal romance that I definitely recommend to anyone that likes the genre! It is a tale of true love and good overcoming evil, as well as a coming of age story. It's an addictive read that will have you connecting to the characters and will make you not want to put it down!

I will definitely be reading more from Jennifer Blyth! I really hope she chooses to do a sequel!

Thank you to Jennifer for providing the review copy!

Amazing New Spin on Immortals
By S. Ford
Have you ever read a book where it stays with you days after your done? Escaped the Night is that book for me. I fell in love with the characters and world Jennifer has written.

Shanntal is a girl who is lost after the death of her family. She goes to live with her aunt and uncle but soon finds out things are not what they seem. She has always felt different from her family but it's not until she meets Jayce that things start to come clear. Her memories start to some back and Shanntal finds out that she is a unique Immortal that can walk both in the light and dark. She can bring both worlds together but only if she can fight the darkness inside herself. With the love of Jayce and all her new friends Shanntal stands up to the darkness but she needs to be careful as it has plans of it's own for her.

Jennifer puts a new spin on the supernatural beings we all have come to love. If you want a book filled with Immortals of all kinds and a love that will take your breath than Escaped the Night is the book for you. Jennifer is an author to watch. 5/5 stars
