About the Author
The Flight of the Pickerings is based on a dream which came at a time of extreme stress in John's life. He was living in paradise (Hawaii) and watching his life savings evaporate. Negativity abounded, but the dream/story would not let go and John felt the increasing need to write it out. The story needed to be told and after 8 years of steady re-writing, he's finally happy to share it. John Grayson Heide now lives on top of a mountain near Sonoma, California enjoying too much sun, his forgiving wife and an array of wild birds he cannot identify.

This is a great book by a great new writer. This will be made into a movie. If you like coming of age stories that take you through coming of age to aging, if you like humor and like stories of adventurous committed love - you will love this book.

This writer is insightful as well as believable about a serious subject. His sensitive use of humor about aging and the human condition keeps the reader heartwarmingly entertained.. I'll be waiting for his next book!!

Piece by piece, through the ashy rubble, I found the missing pieces to my puzzled life. With faith and determination, I learned how to rebuild my life, step by step and day by day, until I became an IRON WOMAN." I had to stop my life from derailing and repeating those generational curses, cycles and patterns. I found my answers that helped to heal, deliver, and set me free in to living an abundant, peaceful and whole life with God. Through it all, I found my voice that ignited my power!
The things that I have gone through and had to face by myself with God, only made me stronger, wiser and more mature. My strength was never designed to intimidate anyone. But if you don’t know my story, then you will never understand my God-given glory. God placed this strength and power in me that I had to develop for the calling and purpose that I was designed with you in mind.
My voice is for the mothers and daughters who have gone through similar stories and need a guide in how to deal and handle those issues that are hard to talk about. I am here to help and show you how to live the abundant and peaceful life that God designed with you in mind. With hard work, we can do this, one step and one day at a time. For I do understand what it is like to not have anyone to talk to because your pain was swept underneath the rug by others, like it did not matter. (No one wanted to talk about it!) It does matter and you have a voice in how you feel and what you have gone through or is going through.
I need you to know that your power is on the inside of you and it is your voice that is going to ignite your power to freedom. Because God has an awesome and wonderful plan designed with you in mind.

A Must Read for 2016!

Carleatha Wells does what a good author can do, and that is grab your attention from the first few words. People resonate with personal testimony and Ms. Wells paints a poignant picture of excerpts from her life. A pleasant surprise within this book, is the book is interactive! Carleatha engages the reader to participate with their own personal thoughts with her "Journal Questions" sections. This is a book for 2016 and for anyone that loves God and understands that He is our provider, will connect with Carleatha. She shares that through perseverance, we never stop learning, growing and achieving.

A Dark and Twisty Journey

I loved this first book in the Coin of Rulve series. Veronica Dale has built an intricate, heartbreaking world that feels real. The main character, Sheft, is a young man on the cusp of a great adventure. Sheft is an outsider in his village and even in his home. He knows deep inside there is something different about him, something that the villagers fear and consider wrong. But he loves Mariat more than he fears the wrath of the council. Shift has a bigger quest than he or anyone else knows. Before this dark and twisty book (with a promise of light at the end) ends, readers will see Sheft take some bold actions. I simply cannot wait for the next in this series!

A real "page turner".

I read this book on vacation and couldn't put it down. I have a great need to know what happens to Sheft. It looks like the next book is about his twin. It should be interesting. I can't wait. I hope there will be more about Sheft and that eventually there will be a happy ending. This is the first time I read a book written by someone I know. It was interesting to "see" Veronica in her writing-especially her religious views and love of fantasy. GOOD JOB!!!!

A murder mystery set in the segregated town of Dodge County, Texas in 1954. Swift Justice will appeal to fans of the movie Mississippi Burning and John Grisham’s book, A time to Kill, and tells the story of Leon Brooks, an educated black man, who comes under the wrath of the Texas KKK for initiating a voting drive.

But a mysterious person, who is disguised, comes to Leon’s aide as the noose was around Leon’s head. Leon can’t tell whether the person is black or white. The person leaves as quickly as he or she arrived.

Within four days, numerous white people are murdered, and the Klan has no idea who’s doing it. Sheriff Jefferson Mason, a tall, heavy-set man in his fifties and a local leader in the Klan as well, investigates the crime. The Klan’s revised solution—kill more Negroes and set the town on fire.

FBI Special Agent, Roger Perry and his partner, Tom Hall, rush to Dodge County to solve the murders and bring down the Klan. The murders and racial tensions also bring in the national media. Dodge County is in disarray. Will it ever be the same? Will the people responsible for the crimes be brought to swift justice?

I like the general plot of prejudice in the south back ...

I got this book from Amazon Kindle Unlimited. The author offered me a free copy for review.

I like the general plot of prejudice in the south back in the 50's and an anonymous vigilante . The overall story is great, just need to check

vocabulary for the time period.

One of the first thing I observed was the use of the "f word," and ""m-f." I am hoping that further on they will be used judicially for effect.
The setting is in the 50's and dialogue such as "contact information, " "bro," "entourage," "bring it on," "thousand yard stare," "wrecking

crew" "up to speed" and "working the phone, along with others "weren't used until much later.

Fact check...............crime scene tape didn't replace rope until late 70's early 80's. Batman mask wouldn't of been plastic, back then fabric

covered cardboard.It would probably been more like a "Lone Ranger" as super heroes didn't become popular until 1960's.

The author is still having trouble using the same word multiple times in close proximity, but not as often as in his first novel.

I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

Where do I start...... The title gives you a clue.... Swift Justice, The Southern Way. Yes, it is set in the 50's, takes place in a town divided.... The Black side of town is the other side of the tracks! This much I grew up with. Dodge County, Texas is rife with the Klan, the Imperial Wizard is a highly placed Judge!
Anything that goes wrong the whites are ready to Lynch....... Very well done mystery story, that has a surprising twist to the end. Keeps you reading wondering What Next! I'm not going to giveaway the plot, & just say Thank You or a Good Read to the author! (less) [edit]

This is the second book by this author that I ...

This is the second book by this author that I have read. This book has a very different style and setting from the first book but is an equally compelling book to read. Once I started reading I didn't want to put it down until I was finished. I was drawn in by the details of the controversial historical time period. Even when I thought I had the ending figured out I was still surprised. The characters were well described and believable. This is definitely a book I will be recommending to friends. I'll be waiting for the next book by this author!

In this well researched book, the author takes us back to 1964 Mississippi, when the nation was shocked by the disappearance--and discovery of the murder--of three Freedom Summer workers, courageous young people who travelled to Mississippi, living with black families, trying to register black voters and opening Freedom Schools to educate black children and their parents. Rubin follows the story chronologically, focusing on specific anecdotes which make the story more immediate for young people. The book is handsomely illustrated with archival photographs and drawings. Back matter includes information on the trial of the main organizer of the murders, who did not face trial into 2005. Information is provided on additional resources; there is also a timeline, source notes, reproduction of original documents, a detailed bibliography, and an index. Excellent nonfiction book for the new common core curriculum. Recommended for students in grades 5 and up.

An excellent resource about the summer of 1964, those sticky-hot months when civil rights came to a boiling point in Mississippi. The book’s introduction and first chapter give information about Fannie Lou Hamer, a native of the Mississippi Delta who had tried to register to vote but was twice denied and Andrew Goodman, a white 20-year old man who volunteered to assist in registering blacks to vote, becoming part of the Freedom Summer. Less than a week after leaving home, Andrew Goodman was dead.

Rubin chronologically tells of the dangers faced by the brave volunteers, the viciousness of some white Southerners as they attempted to stop the Freedom Summer workers, and the courage displayed by those workers as they strove to show that all Americans deserved the right to vote. She ends the book by coming back to Mrs. Hamer and Andrew Goodman, one surviving that summer and carrying out the goal of registering new voters and one murdered for attempting to do the same. Numerous black and white photos depict many facets of the movement including Mrs. Hamer in a citizenship class, Mississippians filling out a voter registration card for the first time, and a child completing a project at a Freedom School. Details in the photos are not to be missed, from the concentration on that school child's face to the look of hate on the face of a sheriff chasing a photographer. Includes maps, superb illustrations, and a timeline. Pair with The Freedom Summer Murders by Don Mitchell.

Great book for practicing balancing chemical equations

Great book for practicing balancing chemical equations. The book starts with a brief explanation of the various aspects of balancing chemical equations. The book is then dividing into chapters (question banks) of increasing complex balancing problems. Answers to all the questions are in the back. This book will be a great resource for any high school chemistry student you need a bit of practice balancing chemical equations. If I were to recommend a way to improve the next version of the book, I would recommend adding additional explanations for several of the problems in each chapter.

I would recommend this book

Not quite sure why I bought this. I though it would help my daughter do extra chemistry problems to help her in her high school class. She barely has time to get her homework done let alone do extra problems. However the book was informative and if she ever can find time to do extra practice problems, I would recommend this book. But for now, it's on the shelf.

A super quick, easily accessible shot of gender bending fun

Magical Girl Dallas is a great first entry into the foray of magical girls. In an interesting twist on the genre, Dallas is a normal average guy who becomes a magical girl whenever danger is near, forcing him to suddenly learn all at once how to defeat the forces of evil, and not blush with embarrassment every single time 'she' has to venture outside.

The story is short, sharp, and to the point, often reading like an episode of a light hearted anime, and the gender-bending aspect though a main point in the story has yet to be developed into something more of a challenge for the hero to start to understand and live with. The band of characters are easily imagined and very likeable despite their often short introductions.

The novella doesn't root itself firmly in a niche of a target audience, nor does it turn anyone away, with language and themes acceptable to people of all ages, it is a very easy read, and thoroughly enjoyable the whole way through, leaving you with a want to learn more about the (regrettably) lightly described world of the metroplex and the magical girl castle that lies above.

If what you are after is a new entire world to immerse yourself in, with a bible of lore to digest and absorb and hard hitting themes throughout, this is not the book for you, but if all you are after is a quick dash of good old fashioned fun times, anime styles with a gender bending flair, a night curled up in the corner with Magical Girl Dallas is the fix for you. A great story for the author's first effort, with a promising future ahead of it.

A hilarious story that's worthy of being a movie

This story had great humor. Dallas unintentionally becoming a Magical Girl was something not a lot of writers would think up. I would have preferred it to be longer, but I know there's going to be a sequel. In my opinion, this is worthy of being turned into a movie.
