The DarkestCorner of the World

I found this book informative about a time in Estonia which was not covered previously.The story line was expertly conveyed by fifteen year old Madli. It provided details of life in Estonia and the countryside which transported the reader. Although this book was written for teens I found the style and language made it as compelling to adult readers. The author 's description of the characters were spot on . She was able to keep us in suspense and wondering and caring for Madli and her family every step of the way. I would recommend this book as a historical fiction based on recent history in Europe and as a spell binding account of the Russian occupation of Estonia. I hope that there is a sequel to this novel. I know that I want to know more about Madli and her family during the coming years.

Caught between two vicious superpowers, the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany, the country, much like the major protagonists in the book, struggle merely to survive in a time when the world turned its back on the Estonian people.This is a story well told.

Loved this book

I really enjoyed this book.

I felt she made choices that were really very quite difficult and unusual for Victorian times. She stuck to her guns,, and like all of us, was made to bear the consequences of her choice.

I did not like this book. The woman in the story endures self-imposed difficulties, with no final accomplishment. Very frustrating and annoying story. Only suggested for those highly interested in women's studies.

and I am excited to say that I was not disappointed by the wait

I have been waiting so long for this book to come out, and I am excited to say that I was not disappointed by the wait. I LOVED the book.

As I do not want to give any spoilers for those that have been waiting like me for this book to come out, I will keep this brief. But I am already anxious for the next two books!! Can't wait to see what is revealed next and how they will handle the secrets.

Dead Wolf Walking answers many questions for you about Zach and his family, but in the end leaves you with more questions as new characters are introduced, The book is a page turner with constant excitement, danger and love...of course. It does not disappoint and is a great addition to the series.

Loved this one so much. Shapes of Autumn series has got to be one of the best series I have read in such a long time. It's well written, you can follow the story line and your not stumbling words spelled incorrectly or used wrong. The story is fast paced, kept me on the edge of my seat and I could not put it down. Each book leaves you wanting more of the story. Veronica Blade has such a smooth quality to her writing, it just flows nicely. I am positive that anyone who enjoys sitting down with a good book will enjoy this series. Don't stop there, after you've read all the books in Shapes of Autumn you will want to read all the other books that she has out there.

Loved Dead Wolf Walking!!!

WOW!! I had a hard time putting this book down. Love the Shapes of Autumn series and really loved Dead Wolf Walking. What an unexpected, but wonderful turn of events in this one. I have to say, I really didn’t see that one coming! Veronica is such a talented and creative writer. I love the way the characters come to life in her books and I love Zach and Autumn. I have been anxiously awaiting this book and boy it did not disappoint. Now I can’t wait to see what happens next!
Love your books Veronica! Keep ‘em coming!

Last year, Kate Walker found herself sifting through people’s dreams, experiencing them, but unable to interact with anyone, except Nick Hall. Together they fought against a serial dream killer, who eventually turned his sights to Kate. Now, she’s finding a balance between her life, people’s dreams and slowly forgetting the night when the killer came after her and her sister, Jesse.

Unfortunately, as she and Nick return to high school, tragedy falls on their senior year--a suicide. At first Kate doesn't read too much into it, until another one happens. She can't help feeling that something sinister is happening again in the dream world, a place she was just getting comfortable with.

When the suicides connect to her boyfriend, Nick, the life Kate was finally accepting turns upside down.

This captivating story will have you wondering who is haunting your dreams!

Kate isn’t your average high school senior, she has the ability to dream walk. She even met her boyfriend, Nick, walking in someone else’s dreams. Pretty cool, except when she walks into a nightmare or witnesses other walkers abusing their gift. In Walker, the prequel to this book, Kate and her sister think they are alone and this ability runs only in the women of their family. They find out they are wrong, very wrong. In Dreamer, we dive into Nick’s family. A series of deaths start to pile up like skeletons in the closet, all surrounding Nick. But how are all of these people dying in their dreams??

I LOVED Walker so I was super excited when I found out there would be a sequel. The dream walking concept is so unique and creative.
I really enjoyed being back in this world Michelle has created. Love the characters, love the dream sequence and love the mystery.

Another great book from this author.

As a reader, I think a lot of YA books and series have fallen into this trap of being cookie cutters of the books that came before them. Dystopian future sold well? Then let's write a million of them. Kids love angels and vampires so let's give them a thousand different books with the same storyline. They'll love it!

I can honestly say as an avid reader that doesn't just read adult fiction, the tried and true can become boring and redundant. That's why when I find a series like this I'm just relieved. It's like a breath of fresh air after suffocating for so long.

Dreamer is the second book in the Dream Walker series. It tells the story of Kate who has the unique ability of being able to enter others dreams. Such a simple idea yet so original. I can honestly say I have never read a book quite like this, or its predecessor Walker. Stop right here if you haven't read the first book Walker and go grab that now because this is definitely a series that needs to be read from start to finish.

The story begins as apparent suicides start to occur within Kate's small town. Accompanied by her boyfriend Nick, who is also a walker, Kate sets out to find out what is really behind them.

I usually can figure out the twist or mystery in a book pretty early on. I don't know if it's due to my unnatural amount of reading, but there's little that shocks me anymore. That wasn't at all the case with Dreamer. It kept me on the edge of my seat and second guessing everything. And the big reveal had me reeling.

I absolutely love this series and strongly recommend it to anyone who is a fan of Cassandra Clare's City of Bones series. Solid 4 star read.

About the Author
Claude C. Hopkins (1866–1932) was one of the great advertising pioneers. He believed advertising existed only to sell something and should be measurable and justify the results that it produced. He worked for various advertisers, including Bissell Carpet Sweeper Company, Swift & Company and Dr. Shoop's patent medicine company. At the age of 41, he was hired by Albert Lasker owner of Lord & Thomas advertising in 1907 at a salary of $185,000 a year, Hopkins insisted copywriters researched their client products and produce "reason-why" copy. He believed that a good product was often its own best salesperson, and as such he was a great believer in sampling. To track the results of his advertising, he used key coded coupons and then tested headlines, offers and propositions against one another. He used the analysis of these measurements to continually improve his ad results, driving responses and the cost effectiveness of his clients advertising spend. His classic book, "Scientific Advertising," was published in 1923, following his retirement from Lord & Thomas, where he finished his career as president and chairman. He died in 1932. Charles Duhigg credits Hopkins with popularizing tooth brushing, as a result of Hopkins' campaigns for Pepsodent.

I Had My Doubts Because It's Old...But....

....But I trusted the fellow who recommended it to me, so I risked ninety nine cents for the Kindle edition and won a gold mine of experiential knowledge that anyone who writes copy for the web or advertising for other media should be willing to sacrifice heavily for.

The book is old, but Mr. Hopkins' insights, that he gained through lots of hard work, and trial and error are timeless because people are the same today as they were at the turn of the 20th century.

The reader has only to make a minor mental adjustment to follow some of the wording that seems unusual today, and to make adjustments for the modern human attitude and technology.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who has to persuade people to buy their, or someone else's product or service. This book will shorten the advertiser's or student's learning curve significantly. If you're finished learning, you won't need this book.

Great book; timeless business truths...

This book was written 70+ years ago and every basic concept on advertising/marketing still applies today. Advertising, marketing, media, etc., have certainly evolved and become far more sophisticated during that time but human nature hasn't changed. This book is a primer on all the basics of advertising and data-driven marketing and is an interesting read as a pseudo-biography as well. At $0.99 for the Kindle you can't go wrong.

The amazing thing that I got from this "old" book and the words of a brilliant man who died almost a century ago, is that the more we advance as a society, the more we rely upon our primal curiosity about any value proposition before we buy. He had it figured out way ahead of the pack... and it's still valid.
