The name Suspended alone leaves the reader knowing they are in for a wild ride. Sarah Noffke has taken her world of dreamer travelers to new heights by extending the series into the elusive world of the circus. Often the setting for misfits that have been cast-off from society, the Vagabond Circus lives up to it's name of exclusivity to employ the rejects of both the Dreamer Walker and Middling world. Cocooned in their safe environment, but threatened by economic instability, they are forced to take in a new performer who will rock the foundation of the group. Colorful, exciting, with a dash of the promised romance, Suspended will leave you hanging in the end, waiting for the coming sequel.

fun to read

A very well written book. I had tried to win this in a contest, failed, but was intrigued by the description so I went ahead and purchased it.
The core theme: of a paranormal circus, might have been done before, but not quite like this. The writing is superb, and the characters for the most part are dimensional and intriguing. I had fun reading it.
It ended too soon, though, but that's ok because its the first in a series so I look forward to reading the next one.

You will have to get book 2, as this book has no ending

Let me start my review by admitting that I'm irritated because book one just ended. You will have to get book 2 to continue on with the story, and because I wasn't warned up front I'm irritated. That irritation dropped this review by at least half a star. The book started out interesting enough, but lost my interest part way through. There just wasn't enough magic. And dream traveling, which sounded interesting, was only a mentioned a few times and didn't play much of a part in the story. Partway through it seemed more like a romance book instead of a suspenseful fantasy, which was what I was hoping for based on the description. The writer has some talent and I was interested enough to finish the book, although I can't say that would have been the case if I had known it is yet another book where you figure the author wanted to guarantee sales of the second book by not ending the first. Again, a warning up front would have lessened that impression.
If you are wanting fantasy books about circuses, I would recommend instead that you read the Immortal Circus books. The description of book one book warns you up front that it was initially released as a serial and the other books are available. It also has a more richly imagined world, and the writer, A.R. Kahler, is so good he is now one of my favorite writers.
