About the Author
During his early business years Don Cramer worked in sales for a Fortune100 company. As his business accomplishments were rewarded, he realized hislife was not rewarding in ways that mattered. This began a search for a paththat could teach him what a fulfilling and happy life looked like. Personalgrowth seminars, a regular yoga practice and a voracious appetite formetaphysical books eventually led him to a move to San Diego and a chanceencounter with a young woman who shared his interests and passions--whom hequickly married. Don is currently retired in Mexico where he pursues hislifelong interest of discovering the secrets of living a good life, loving withno expectations, and enjoying an occasional glass of good wine.

A must read for any caregiver

What an amazing story. Anyone who is a caregiver or who knows a caregiver should really read this. I couldn't put it down after I started reading it. I think it would also be helpful for anyone recently diagnosed with dementia or Alzheimers to help them understand what may be ahead and how to deal with it.

The right book written at the right time in the right way.

I got “Where is Whitney now?” yesterday and, as is my practice, I read a few pages before adding it to my active stack of to-do reads. I couldn’t stop! I read and read and read well into Appendix #2 when the batts in my Kindle gave out and it was 4 am!

You have written the right book at the right time in the right way, Mr. Cramer! Compassionate, informative, instructive and touching it is a remarkable and important contribution to the Alzheimer’s experiences literature.

The author’s frank candor about his wide-ranging emotions adds immensely to the read. This is a handbook for not only understanding and contending with this the most feared disease but as well it is a wonderful guide for the well intended re how they can better step up to help overwhelmed and under sourced caregivers in any difficult circumstance.

A needed different perspective

There have been many books written about Alzheimer's and its impacts on the lives of the patient and family, but Where Is Whitney Now? focuses more on the caregiver's feelings, plans and actions...the exact audience that would be searching books for insights and answers.

Mr. Cramer's introspection doesn't gloss over his fears or desperation. In chasing one esoteric to oddball cure after another, the reader understands how earnest his efforts are in trying to stem the tide of the inevitable, and how difficult it must be to accept that the love of one's life is slipping quietly away. Forced by the progression of the disease to seek out professional care, Mr. Cramer's next steps are both instructive and heartbreaking. But with the heartache, he also writes of the path forward and learning to live with the hand one is dealt.

For a caregiver especially, the Cramer's story offers insights, an identification with the scenarios and solid guidance and advice from one who has been there. I'm glad to have read this book and recommend it to others who are trying to cope with or better understand life with Alzheimer's disease.

About the Author
Nolan Finley began his newspaper career as a copy boy at The Detroit News while senior in college. After a brief stint with the Jackson Citizen Patriot, he returned to The News as a reporter, covering the administration of Mayor Coleman A. Young. He’s been the newspaper’s City Editor, Business Editor, Politics Editor and Deputy Managing Editor. In 2000 he was named Editorial Page Editor and his columns have appeared in the newspaper ever since. As he wrote in his introductory column, Finley is a product of The News and the Detroit community. He graduated from both Schoolcraft College and Wayne State University and in 2012 was inducted into the Michigan Journalism Hall of Fame. He is an outdoorsman, bourbon aficionado and rabid University of Kentucky basketball fan. He is a native of Cumberland County, Ky., where he still maintains a home.

This is a delightful, insightful collection of poignant observations on Detroit. As the city has sped through bankruptcy and political upheaval, Nolan Finley has paid close attention and witnessed the transformation from the front row. Familiar and interesting characters make appearances ("Kilpatrick channels the worst of Young's personality"), which makes the collection a fun page-turner. And it's interesting to see how many times Nolan has pushed the narrative of the city forward. Check out "Where are the black people?" which sparked a significant amount of conversation when it first hit the newsstands. I'd recommend this book for anyone who is interested in Detroit. It would be interesting for people who have lived in the city for decades, and anyone who is curious about what's happening in the motor city.

Video game based dystopian YA book

This book reminded me of Ready Player One. The characters were believable as well as the relationships between them, as their world is suddenly flipped upside down and they try and figure out what happened, how they are tied to each other, and what is really going on. I thought the book was fascinating, and it drew me in. Look forward to more in the series!

He would say crazy things like, "I want to be in the Air Force. I want to be a Youtuber. I want to be a video editor. I want to be an animator." Fortunately, after experiencing the wonderful video game Persona 4 Golden, Carson knew exactly what he wanted to do: "I want to be a writer. I want to be able to create something that makes the reader feel all kinds of emotions. I want to be able to write something that makes people say, "I want more," or, "Write more about this person," "Write more about this world." That's what I want to do."

Good read and a nice follow up on the last book.

The second book of this series was a good read and the author slowed the pacing and made some characters be less OP which leveled out the story fairly well. Despite not having much character development take place in it, I felt that the author is setting up for something good and I am looking forward to the next installment.
