I’m a huge fan of fantasy and even though I prefer more hardcore fantasy books and not so much the YA types, this box set drew my attention because of the cover and added illustrations – it’s really cool to get extra’s like this. But I have to admit I was surprised with the books and Nhakira, and even the ‘depth’ of the story and characters. I didn’t expect it at all, but really enjoyed the whole series so much. I wasn’t disappointed and would recommend this trilogy to anyone who enjoys a lot of magic (and there’s a lot) and humor too. It’s a fun easy read!

I absolutely adore Jeanine Henning's style of writing - like her illustrations, her characters are brought to life in vivid colour, thanks to her imaginative descriptions and scene setting. I highly recommend this trilogy to all fantasy fans - not just young adults, but readers of all ages who love being swept up in a magical, riveting story. Eagerly anticipating the next release!

Real Feeling Fiction

This read of four interlocking short stories draws one into what are to most people fairly unfamiliar lives, yet reflects on life truths that affect us all. I have never played cards for big money, or betted more than a few coins in what we accurately used to call 'one-arm-bandits', but the story made me feel as though I had. Equally, I've never given up my freedom to drugs, but felt the sickening 'necessity' of the next fix for a few minutes. My favourite story was about the gambler's mother, trying to understand by learning poker for herself. We get a feel for how each character rubs against the others through different first person points of view.
The stories pass all too fast. This is interesting fiction observing human behaviours from inside fictional characters. I would gamble that the character Elliot has a real thread of Jeff Maehre in him, but then, as I say, I don't put money on it.

I enjoyed this book a lot. What I like about it is that it's a thoughtful way of looking at gamblers and drug addicts and prisoners. The stories have interesting criminal types as characters, but it's really about who they are as people. Anyone can relate.

Smell The Future

Sasha has impressed me with her growing maturity throughout this book. She has always been the lighthearted, unconcerned, girly girl of the group. Though while she still maintain her lighthearted personality, there is a depth to her that I was not anticipating seeing from her. I think that her story is by far my favorite one yet, and I'm amazed by the overwhelming admiration I have found for someone who does not even exist, though she sure feels real to me.

Here are some Updates on the girls' lives:

Sasha is ever present on Facebook, forever the social media queen, and she is also working on the long list of New Year's Resolutions that she has made for herself—Starting a blog (which she uses to stay on track with her NYRs), Dying her hair (A burgundy crimson), Starting a Blessings Journal (Like her Mom), Make/sell hand creams, and so much more. She's even decided to take up Taekwondo with her sister. I'll say one thing; that girl is DEDICATED.

Savannah is now taking Taekwondo lessons and personal training on the side from Riley (So cute!) She also seems to have taken on the role of "matchmaker," encouraging all the attention Sasha has been receiving from many guys lately.

Serena is getting more into her feminine side (perfume) thanks of her boyfriend (Sasha approves). She has also taken to outlining the events before their father's death and every related detail (in a flow chart), in the hopes of one day putting al the pieces together and finding his resting place.

Tamara is still the family chef, and we get to see a little more of her budding infatuation with the good-looking neighbor who is Savvy's boyfriend's brother.

Talia has become the new keeper/secretary of the Delta Girls journal, and we have begun to learn more about this [mysterious] oldest sister via Sasha; she is worried for her sister's emotional state and seeming fragility as of late, likely due to the new information they have just learned about their dearly departed father.

The more I learn about these girls, the more enthralled I become by them. They are each so very unique and their personalities and hobbies are constantly growing, while they still maintain their original characteristics that I first fell in love with in "Sight."

This family has been through the wringer, and I agree with Sasha that this year will be one to remember, full of trials and triumphs. The girls will continue to face tough times, but I have faith that the will continue to overcome them with a warrior's spirit and the love and support of their family.

Sassy Sasha finds herself in trouble in Scent!

Okay so let me be honest for a sec…I was really dreading reading Scent by Juliet Madison not because I didn’t enjoy the series or the author’s writing but because I really didn’t care for Sasha in the other books and this is her story. BUT let me be the first to tell you I was pleasantly surprised by vain little Sasha. After learning some distressing news about their father, the Delta Girls are feeling stumped and more determined than ever to solve the mystery around their father’s disappearance. At least all the girls except Sasha are. Sasha needs a new outlook on her life and with the new year she plans to find just that.

Sasha is the sassy sister, the one that is hip on all the latest fashion trends, spends way more than her allotted time in the bathroom, and the complete opposite of her sporty sister Savannah. She’s the eldest of the triplets making her the exact middle child. She also has what she considers the worst of the psychic abilities her and her sisters share — the ability of smell or scent. She literally smells the future. How lame is that?! Or at least that’s her thoughts on it.

For the new year, Sasha decides to start a blog about her new year’s resolutions. Of course as a blogger this appealed to me immediately. Sasha is a good writer too and easily takes her blog into her social media. An ominous warning from her mother about being carefully with her private information on the internet sets the tone of the book and gives the reader a bit of insight on what is going to happen to our Sasha.

As you’ve probably guessed (as I did from the moment Sasha announced she was starting a blog), Sasha has a secret admirer. This story revolves around her growing online relationship with the secret admirer. I have to say this the author does a fantastic job of showing the dangers of online predators WITHOUT having to spell it out. I was drawn into the story and it easily can become a teachable moment to preteens and teens that read the book. So kudos Juliet Madison!

Overall I really enjoyed Sasha’s story! Not only did I find myself loving her character but I was rooting for her, crying with her, and falling in love along side her. If you’ve enjoyed the series up to this point, you will love Sasha’s story!

My Spanish is rather rusty. I wish there was a Spanish/English dictionary built in so I could get translations without having to go to another book. What really works is to get "The Exemlary Novels of Cervantes" and read the story in English first.

Great book

My reading list generally consists of technical manuals. Don't read fiction often. This book was a great read. I loved the techno gadgets mixed in throughout the book. Keep an eye out for the Easter Eggs. They are subtle. As you discover the eggs you can see the depth of development. This is a series of three books, can't wait for the next two to come out. Overall a great read.

Andrew Hunkins' book was a great read. It kept my interest to the last page and I'm looking forward to the next book. It was an interesting, if not somewhat disturbing plot, combining a futuristic/sci-fi backdrop with subtle messaging about our society. I highly recommend it.

Couldn't Put It Down!

I read this book in one sitting, it was so interesting. I went on a similar awakening path as the author. I loved reading about his adventures adding new modalities and mystical talents to his spiritual toolbox. After a heart attack, Jaynes life opened up like a treasure chest. Everything changed. His life took on new direction and meaning. I highly recommend this book if you are a spiritual seeker, or just curious about the mystical side of life.
