Confieso que las primeras páginas me resultaron tediosas con tanta descripción pero una vez que pasan ya la historia te mantiene en vilo hasta el final. He leído varios de la autora y este es el que más me ha gustado, sus historias todas son magníficas pero a veces abusa de la descripción . Hay que situarse en el lugar y los personajes pero sin exceso. Muy recomendable este libro posee todo lo que necesita para atrapar al lector hasta el final

Don't Miss This Time Travel With a Twist!

When young Ben Collins discovers he has a unique ability to control time with his mind, he doesn't immediately think of changing the course of history. But as he goes through life, his talent for being able to go back and do over some events becomes more and more important as he witnesses some of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries' momentous proceedings. He's basically a good guy who wants to make things better, but the power isn't reliable, and the Universe has other ideas when it comes to changing history.
The book is a cerebral journey through the mind of an ordinary man with an extraordinary power. The real story is how he tries to envision the outcomes of his actions before attempting to make profound changes in the timeline. But he can't think of everything, and the Universe is still there with unexpected results.
I enjoyed the book very much. It's a good long read, perfect for those cold winter days or the coming summer vacation times. But be careful - you might want to just read a bit and come back to it, but instead find yourself reading through the night to see what happens.

One of the best time travel stories I have ever read - and I have read a LOT of them!

I really enjoyed this book. I am a big fan of time travel stories, and this one comes with a definite twist. I particularly like the fact that the author uses no gimmicks: nobody falling to earth time and again - naked and looking for clothes; no time machine; no magic portal or black hole to pass through. This time travel is completely in the protagonist's mind. It isn't make-believe at all - but it happens in his mind, as he slowly realizes he has lived this life before. Once he realizes that he has been given a universal "do-over", Ben Collins starts experimenting with changing things for the better. Sometimes it works, and sometimes - when he reaches too high or too far - the universe gets involved, and things spin out of Ben's control. But he never stops trying - modulating his moves to keep the universe at bay, while still accomplishing good things. To add another twist, when Ben IS successful about changing things, he no longer knows what's going to happen next - until an event from his previous lifetime re-occurs, and he can get back on track. So Ben takes a huge chance every time he tries to change things, and then has to weather many surprises - some of them heart-breaking - along the way. Those who want their time travel constantly action-packed rather than thought-provoking might feel that Ben's occasional philosophizing interrupts the story, but I didn't. He has embarked upon an epic adventure, and to do that without thinking of the consequences - and ruminating upon the possibilities - would, to me, make the book simplistic. Ben MUST think about what he wants to accomplish before he attempts any changes, and as a reader, I am glad to be a party to his thoughts. Five stars!

Un libro que hay que leer, para abrir los ojos.

Excelente libro, nos ayuda a entender el conflicto Israeli / Palestino , el porque de tanto odio por parte de los palestinos hacia los judios, a veces debia cerrar el libro porque la tristeza me embargada mas alla de mi fuerza interna, al ponerme en los zapatos de las vivencias descritas en los diferentes pasajes del libro.
Fuerte, muy humano, no dejen de leerlo.

A Refreshing Addition to the YA Genre

I absolutely adored this book, from the bottom of my heart. The protagonist, Beatrice Todd, and her struggles just to make it through life ring true to pretty much every young adult and their own situation in life - demons notwithstanding.

The characters are all exceedingly likeable, and it's easy to grow attached to them. The most important part, for me at least, are the female relationships throughout the story. There are no rivalries, no petty fights over men, and the conversations between these women rarely - if ever - revolve around men. Their friendships are heartwarming and aspirational, as well as entertaining to watch develop throughout the novel.

I truly adored this book, and cannot wait for the second installment in its series to be released. I recommend this book to any fans of YA literature, specifically those who have an interest in the occult, demons, and plenty of pop culture references.

Couldn't put it down.

This book was a delightful adventure from start to finish. It's rare to find a story that never leaves you bored. The protagonist, Beatrice, has an engaging voice and is extraordinarily relatable. Her passion and her character development made her great to follow at every turn.

The characters in particular were strong and lovable. Hardly a character crossed the page that I didn't fall in love with almost immediately. I can't even list my favorites. They all seemed real, full of odd habits and unique emotional patterns. Even the smallest roles improved the book as a whole. It doesn't take long to get too invested to put it down.

The plot kept a steady pace. That does mean that it very rarely slowed down to breathe, but the moments that it did were gems. Otherwise, it's a fast-paced supernatural action mystery. The gritty genre came through in the details--diners, broken laptops, the noise of a city. It was the sort of detail that brings you ever further into the story.

Overall this was a great lot of fun, and I can't wait for the second book!

This book is just so damn good. I was instantly sucked into the story. Every time you are introduced to a new character, it's love at first sight. I love reading a book with a heroine that isn't a special snowflake. She isn't "the one girl that can save the world". She's just Beatrice. Her life is a mess. She is a mess. But she's WONDERFUL! She's tough on the inside and the outside. I'm raving and rambling. All this to say I can't wait to continue this story and I will miss the characters until the next book.

This was a fun look back to 1969-70 in Salt Lake City. David captured the feel of the times with humor and a good sense of place. I was in Salt Lake at this time, not at the University of Utah that year, but boy did it bring back a flood of memories, all with a smile.

If you are of a certain age or want tp know about those of us who are a certain age, this is wonderful. A fun read with many of the ups and downs, triumphs and tradgedies of that time period. Read it for fun, read it for historical perspective, just read it!

Fast-paced, colorful, unexpected, with memorable characters and a very sweet ending.

I really loved this book! Honestly not a genre I would usually consider reading if it hadn't been offered to me for free, but maybe I need to be more open-minded in my reading choices. This book was well-written, imaginative, fast-paced, and hard to put down, with lots of narrative twists and turns.

I found all the protagonists pretty relatable in some way, even the one who turns out to be an antagonist in the end. Trying to avoid spoilers here, but this person ended up being a really well-fleshed-out villain. The heroine, Ella, is both tough and vulnerable by turns, as well as endearingly quippy. I switched allegiances between the two guys in the love triangle, Titan and Rory, a time or two, but in the end I felt satisfied that Ella was with the guy she was meant to be with.

The reason I give this book four stars instead of a full five is that I would have loved for it to be longer (I was sad when it was over so soon!) and include more setting description. The author introduces a really vivid story world in Haru, the sunless planet, and I would have liked to know more about its history, the Daiha and the Haruvian Knights, etc. I'm rooting for the author to write a sequel where we [MILD SPOILER AHEAD] find out if the sun is ever restored, but with the story of Ella and her true love tied up with a neat little bow at the end of this book, I wonder if that'll ever happen. Maybe a romance about one of the other characters would be cool (*cough* Eris *cough*). Or maybe a story about Ella's future kids.

In summary, I think you'll love this book! Strong characters, a fast pace, unexpected twists and turns, and a vivid and intriguing story world make this a great read you won't want to put down until the happily-ever-after.

A wonderful summer read for young adults!

Ellaria, the crown princess of Voxhan-6, has lost everything she holds dear. Running away from those who would want her dead, she seeks asylum in the planet of Haru, where she hesitantly gives herself up to the protection of her estranged stepbrother (the son of her stepmother), Titan. As she gets to know the new place she calls home, she also meets the Daiha-Warlock, the kind and wise Rory. Being part of the Haruvian knights sworn to protect their planet from the dreaded Warlocks, Titan has a distinct hatred for Rory's kind. Caught between her growing feelings for Titan and her affection for her new friend, Ellaria must choose which side she must stand on, even as sinister forces threaten to tear her apart from the second home she's come to love.

Perhaps what really stood out to me from reading this book is how real and beautiful the world of Haru is. Despite the lack of sunlight in the planet, Anna's vivid descriptions of the world, from the bioluminescent plants to the soaring trees high above the ground, as well as its culture and people, the setting of the story is brought to life. The hidden mysteries of Ellaria's new home and the dangers that lurk in every corner doesn't detract from the beauty of the world, but rather adds to it. Even as there are dangerous monsters hiding in every corner, ready to strike at the protagonist, the elegance of the planet of Haru is preserved, precisely for the fact that they can blend in so well. Overall, the world and its history are all solidly developed.

Ellaria herself is also a wonderful, imperfect character. She has her moments playing the damsel, but she also has her moments of playing the shining, main heroine. As someone who has lost her home planet, Ellaria is an admirable protagonist, in that she's able to express her naivete and her occasional pettiness (being born and raised a princess, after all), without degrading her core personality, which is being a staunch, defiant, and steadfast teenager with a good head on her shoulders.

As far as love triangles go for this YA novel, Titan and Rory are also evenly matched. The author has no bias towards one character, as most other YA authors are wont to do, and the reader may be surprised to find themselves rooting for both of them. They're both well-developed characters with a genuine voice of their own, and the love triangle between these three is certainly quite entertaining.

Perhaps my one regret with this book is the details of the story; while the narrative itself is steady and the action, for the most part, is maintained throughout the whole book, there were some parts that left me wanting more. It would have been nice of the author to explore and build the history of the Daiha-Warlocks more, or perhaps more solidly defined the interpersonal relationships that Titan has with his knights. Because Anna's cast of characters were so well-diversified, I would have liked for the secondary characters to have been given more chances to shine as well.

But still, on the whole, this is a wonderful and satisfying afternoon read; I would highly recommend it as a light summer book for young students or for those relaxing on the beach. The book is quite easy to get lost in, and Ellaria's adventure is certainly one heck of a ride!

Writing that brings a new world to life

I was given a copy of this book in exhchange for an honest review. Let me preface this by saying that I'm not usually very intrigued by YA romance, but this one really grabbed my attention. The author's point-of-view choices gave me a first-row seat into the minds of some incredibly well-crafted characters, and the pacing of the novel meant that I didn't want to stop. The action builds really nicely throughout the book, and, without spoiling anything, the twists and turns are really enjoyable. It's a perfect book to curl up with when you don't have anything like work or school, since, if you're anything like me, you won't want to stop. The writing is great, and will transport you to the world that's been built here. These characters, and this dark planet, are excellent companions for a winter weekend.
