He shows the need to understand staff motivation and methods of direction; the importance of correctly assessing the vagaries of banking relationships, and the ways to feel out bussiness resources before they seize control of a perfectly viable company. Much can be learned about a person or a business over a nice dinner and bottle of nice vintage wine. Once involved, the quality CFO can accurately portray the benefit of persuing any deal to a multi-tasking CEO who may lack the time to deeply engage.

If you want real management experience read this book. You may not encounter all of these situations (hopefully) but you will find yourself in some. This book is not business theory. It is actual experience from a manager who lived through them. Great read.

About the Author
Allen Snell was born on May 11, 1987 in the great(ly unknown) Baytown, Texas to Steve and Barbara Snell. Throughout his life, writing has been an on-and-off obsession. Allen dabbled with his first short stories throughout high school and started writing his first novel while at Johnson University. Since graduating in 2009 with a Youth Ministry degree, he's finished that book, Spellswords, and begun writing the sequel alongside other creative distractions. And because writing in third person is weird, please allow me to be more transparent. The art of story-crafting is first and foremost central to my own life. I want to live a good story if I'm going to have any chance of telling good ones. I believe people can change for the better. I believe those changes often require deep sacrifices. And I've seen firsthand that you should never underestimate a teenager hellbent on changing their world. Currently I live in Roanoke, Virginia working as a Manager for Star City Games and writing in my spare time as often as I can discipline myself. When I can't discipline myself, I'm probably playing games on Steam, marathoning a favorite TV show, or stumbling my way through a cover on www.youtube.com/barrelofjesus. And best of all, I'm marrying my favorite person in the world, my fiancée Molly Doyle, in April. So forgive my delay in delivering the next book. You know . . . priorities. Great story, am looking forward to the next one

I am a terrible judge of books, and by that I do not mean that I am unskilled at choosing quality novels, but that I judge the books I read with the kind of honesty that makes writers' knees knock. If I get past the cover (because, being a graphic designer by trade, it is not only my pleasure but my JOB to judge the covers of books), I usually decide whether or not I am interested in investing my time in a book by the end of the first few chapters. This particular novel did not catch my interest right away, but I am glad that I continued.

CHARACTERS. The protagonist, Garen, is especially well-written with witty rough-around-the-edges sarcasm. The rest of the cast is revealed relatively quickly, but each character has their own distinct personality that helps the reader to set them apart from the others. Usually the plot was affected by the characters' decisions instead of the other way around, which strengthened both.

MILIEU. The world of the book is not a "classic" fantasy world, but one with a unique set of rules pertaining to magic use and lore, and the revelation of how everything works is woven into the story in a way that it does not interrupt the pacing. I've seen some reviews saying that it reminded them of Avatar: The Last Airbender, but besides the elemental magic (which was a theme that existed long before Avatar), I don't see any marked similarities.

PLOT. Though I did catch on to some of the twists prematurely, there were others that caught me pleasantly by surprise. Especially the ending. It left me a bit desperate to know what happens next. I remember making some exclamation aloud and flipping to the next page, reluctant to believe that there was no more to read.

OTHER. There are some spelling errors, but nothing that a good editor couldn't patch up in future novels.

OVERALL I very much enjoyed this novel and look forward to seeing more in this series. Great story!

A very good first offering.

I enjoyed the characterization and pacing throughout this book. The characters are interesting, and the prose overall leaves you wanting to come back to the world of the novel. If you enjoy the YA style of the fantasy Genre, then you've come to the right place.

I loved this book! It's one of those books that once you get into it, you can't put it down! I really love the depth Snell's characters have, and it's hard not to fall in love with the Hon Solo-esque main character, Garen! I'm one of those people who always guesses what's going to happen in books and movies, and this book threw in some things even I did not see coming! I recommend this to all my friends, and I'm already excited to see what else this author comes out with! Buy it now :-)

Loved it!

This is a great, quick-paced mystery with wonderful characters in an interesting setting. The author keeps you guessing until the big reveal towards the end of the story with quick glimpses into different perspectives. The characters are quirky, interesting, and funny without being stereotypical, and I want to see more of them in hopefully forthcoming stories. I can only imagine how children with such disparate personalities would develop as they grow, and I love Linna's intelligence and resourcefulness. The setting is intriguing as well, with hints of a much larger world to explore. I hope to see more from Janerka and her colorful cast of investigators.

A great read!

A charmer filled with endearing characters. Funny, smart story from a world that doesn't exist but is familiar to anyone by virtue of being set in an environment we all have been submerged in at some point of our lives, snow be damned. Janerka obviously considers her readers an intelligent bunch, and that is refreshing. The story is paced fast enough to pull you in and keep you interested and short enough not to put down until finished. I still am not certain whether the baby Bel or the vicious Esmine would be my choice for most precious person I would never want to get stuck in an elevator with. All in all, a really good read. Go get it!

In The Snows of Haz pulled me in right from the beginning. In fact, it was the cover—a snowy hillside somewhere in a land that never was—an attention getter for this Texan who had chipped in last week with neighbors to import an iceberg to cool down our favorite watering hole. It was 105 in the shade here!

This Kool Kountry murder mystery has a cast of many characters, each of whom is wrapped in his/her own brand of quirkiness. I had a hard time keeping up with whom was who after a while, but I’m not exactly the brightest light on the tree sometimes. I must say though, that Maxine Janerka certainly kept her kool in presenting a multi-layered story which was as much about kool characters as it was about the plot.

A quick read and a good summertime diversion. This is the first in a series. Good job, Maxine!

Learn something that you'd never get from school

I have been learning English for years, in different countries/schools. Schools give their students almost the same materials over and over! and none of these materials contain anything related to real life slang or any sexual terms, which are important part of the language and people's real life. I found this missing part in this book; it includes vocabulary/slang followed by examples in a simple way. It is easy to read and explains valueble information for one who's trying to improve his/her language. Good luck everyone!

Ok so this isn't my typical read but I decided to give it a try anyway and I'm so happy I did. Each chapter was strong in sound and had its own meaning. my favorite would have to be day 5 and 2 which really opened my eyes to my own mistakes. Overall this was a great read and I'm so happy I took a chance on it. Oh also the intro was freaking phenomenal

Dear Beautiful has changed my perspective on life and on myself for the better. And I truly am thankful to the author for having written this life-giving book! Just the introduction alone has inspired me, but as I went through each day of Dear Beautiful Affirmations, I began to FEEL and THINK beautiful! This valuable book causes the reader to see themselves as God sees them - beautiful, vibrant, adored, worthy - but doesn't do so in overly religious ways. It is real. It is thought-provoking. It is honest. It is Needed!

I purchased three books, one for myself and I gave the other two away. And now that I have experienced the entire book (and trust, it is an Experience!), I plan to purchase many more as a blessing to others who need to remember how Beautiful they really are. Thank you, Ms. Goodwin. Thank you!!!

Major kudos to the author and her decision to share her wisdom. This book was absolutely amazing. It really touched my life and made me really think about a lot of things. It seemed like the days were right on point with what I needed to hear. I use this book along with my devotional and I can't express enough how awesome this book is. I think that anyone who likes romance and who likes books set in trying times will love this book. Her characters are well developed, and the storyline though complicated at times is compelling at the same time. It is the way with times of war- life sort of gets thrown up in the air and where people tumble often separates them from those they love from. This is a good enjoyable read.

Tabor infuses this work with an almost spiritual love of life and the world. She portrays very visual scenes of life: its beauty its ugliness the sweat of determination the consuming fire of true love the sweatness of hope. A spectacular read leaving the reader joyful and warm. BTW thank you for naming Gretchen's daughter Annalies.
