There’s life, there’s death, and for some, there’s the in-between.
Mara Crowe was your average high school senior. She had good grades was bests friends with Ashley, and in a relationship with Van, one of the star basketball players, that was more off than on most days. She was trying to get her last year of high school all in order with less partying and more time studying. Of course, not wanting to be the party pooper, and also wanting to make sure that Van didn’t do anything to jeopardize their relationship once again, she agreed to one last party. One last night that was supposed to be fun-filled, one last night that changed the course of everything.
Max Carter was there, wherever there was at the moment. He knew he was stuck in the in-between, but wasn’t sure how to get to either side. In fact, sometimes he didn’t know which side he wanted to go to. He’d left it all behind a few months ago in a spur of the moment decision, yet he wasn’t where he thought he would end up. There were people that came and went, but no one stayed as long as he had in this place. He could watch from afar what his family and friends were doing, but he couldn’t reach out to them…he was all alone.
That was until she came. She filled that empty space that he always had. She made him laugh, cry, feel all the things he never thought he’d ever feel again…but most of all she made him love. He knew there would come a day when she would be able to choose her pathway. One day, she would leave and he would be left alone once again.
Max could help her go back, but was he willing to give up his happiness for her. Time was running out for both of them. Which path would they choose? Would they pick the one that would allow them to be together forever, or would they be separated by a time that no one knew existed?

A most read.
By ANGELA PASCUALI
This is a most read. It will live you thinking about your own life. Do yourself a favor and have a box of tissues ready when you read it. I could not put the kindle down. It literally had me thinking of my own life. The way the story is told with Mara and max to find your true love in the inbetween world and not really know if it is real or not when it feels so real and all you want to do is be with that person you cant. Well i wont spoil it to much for you. Just do yourself a favor and buy the book. You will not regret it.

Waiting for the point that never came
By Jacky
This could have been another great dystopian YA series. I loved the idea behind it – the whole life takes place in a digital world -, because we live in a world of digitalization and this could possibly be reality in just a few years.
Unfortunately, there are some points about the implementation that I didn’t like and made the book quite unrealistic and cheesy.
Maddie is in a big conflict when it comes to Justin. She has to decide on which side she stands: Her family and what her father achieved fort he society or on Justin’s, who revokes himself from the system and fights fort he real offline-world. Unfortunately, she does a lot, except making a decision. That’s why the story feels unfinished (ok, it’s a series, but you shouldn’t be forced to read every book o fit to get something like a sticking point or result) - it's missing the point.
Maddie isn’t a strong character. She can’t make a decision and stand by it. I couldn’t identify with her at all and I really didn’t like her. When she meets Justin, the love story overshadows the real conflict. I mean, I love reading a good love story and it’s fine when it takes the main role even in this genre – but this one didn’t work. They get closer physically very fast and before the reader can feel any romance between them. It’s the “he’s so hot”- love thing. When they know about the other one’s feelings, it’s clear that a love relationship can’t work and Justin refuses to even try it. That doesn’t really change or develop in the first book, so if you need something like an end, this book isn’t for you.
There are also quite a lot illogical things going on. Justin drives a Mustang in a world where nobody drives a car anymore. How could this work (Gasstation? Mechanics?..)? And Justin’s father likes to invent water-vehicles. Where’s the point with that? Water isn’t important in the story, this element seemed inappropriate to be repeated over and over again.
This book is full of clichés and superficial. You won’t find a reason why Maddie loves Justin except for his hotness. You won’t find a reason why her parents are still married. For me, this book is missing the point. I don’t know if this will change with the next books of the series, but I won’t read them. I really missed complexity, logic and a deeper level behind everything.
If you’re looking for a dystopian YA series with a love story, I would totally recommend you the Armor-series by Lauren Oliver, which is my absolute favorite regarding to this. Or maybe even Cassia & Ky by Ally Condie.
Two stars – I didn’t like it, but the idea was nice and it’s a fast and easy read.

I absolutely enjoyed this story!!!
By Karen_Book_Addict
I enjoyed this book, the characters meet and fall in love while they are stuck in limbo between life and death while they both are in comas, different then any other books with the same story line. Awesome read!!! Can't wait to read more of this story!!
